Solar Project with Mutual Security Credit Union Recognized as Outstanding Project, 2019
Valhalla, NY – March 23, 2020
Con Edison Solutions (CES), a leading energy services company and one of the Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses, received one of Connecticut Green Bank’s 2019 PACEsetter Awards for “Outstanding Project”. The solar developer was recognized for its solar project with Mutual Security Credit Union (MSCU), a community based financial institution and one of the top performers in the Green Bank’s residential Smart-E Loans program, at its branch location at 97 Newtown Road in Danbury, Connecticut.
The Connecticut Green Bank created the PACEsetter Awards five years ago to acknowledge contractors, building owners and other stakeholders whose projects are an outstanding example of the green energy movement through the Green Bank’s Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program.
C-PACE is an innovative program, administered by the Green Bank, which helps commercial, industrial, and non-profit property owners access affordable, long-term financing for qualifying energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements that are repaid through a voluntary assessment on the building owner’s property tax bill. As the program grows, more Connecticut businesses achieve lower energy costs and increase their bottom-line.
Con Edison Solutions completed the 15.7 kilowatt solar installation for Mutual Security Credit Union in July 2019. The installation, and its associated power purchase agreement (PPA) secured through C-PACE, is expected to produce 20,350 kilowatt hours per year and result in approximately $50,000 in gross electric bill savings over 20 years.
“Connecticut Green Bank’s C-PACE program helps smaller-scale solar projects that might not otherwise receive financing,” said Zak Poston, Director, Residential & Commercial Solar Programs, for Con Edison Solutions. “We thank them for the initial support of the project, this award, and their ongoing commitment to renewable energy.”
“One of MSCU’s core values includes environmental stability and we’re honored to work alongside the Connecticut Green Bank to offer accessible ways for homeowners to improve their home efficiency,” said Ralph Mesite, MSCU Business Development & Sr. Consumer Credit Analyst. “Our partnership with Con Edison Solutions to install solar panels at our Danbury branch was a natural fit, and with their expertise we were able to decrease our carbon footprint and energy bill. We’re humbled to win this award with Con Edison Solutions and hope it showcases to other Connecticut businesses the achievements they can have with the C-PACE program.”
