HERSHEY, PA - MAY 12, 2010: ConEdison Solutions, a national energy services company providing competitive energy supply to households and businesses throughout the PPL service territory, has donated over $108,000 to three of the Ronald McDonald House® Programs in Pennsylvania.
The donation fulfills the company's December 15th pledge to donate $5 to a customer’s local Ronald McDonald House® for every PPL energy user enrolling with ConEdison Solutions prior to January 31. The company -- which made the commitment upon entering the PPL market -- reported that over 21,600 PPL customers had signed on with ConEdison Solutions during that period.
Ronald McDonald House® Programs provides families of sick children with a "home away from home” while their children are receiving treatment at a nearby children’s hospital. Based on the geographical locations of ConEdison Solutions enrollees, more than $60,000 will be directed to the Hershey Ronald McDonald House®, more than $40,000 to the Scranton Ronald McDonald House® and more than $6,000 to the Danville Ronald McDonald House®.
"We are most grateful to ConEdison Solutions and to the customers in the Central Pennsylvania region for this generous donation. The Hershey Ronald McDonald House® provides a temporary home-away-from-home to 21 families each night. With the completion of a major expansion this summer, we will have the capacity to serve 35 families. Needless to say, our operational expenses for all utilities and services will be expanding and now more than ever, such a generous infusion of operation dollars is gratefully appreciated – and needed”, said Kathleen B. Denton, Executive Director, Hershey Ronald McDonald House.
"As a responsible corporate citizen, we are proud to do our part to support the special needs of families in the local community," said Jorge J. Lopez, President of ConEdison Solutions. "ConEdison Solutions is pleased to help Ronald McDonald House fulfill its important mission. And we commend all of the customers who signed up with us during this special offer period. Their action made this donation possible."
The energy provider has continued to provide highly competitive pricing since its market entry in December. Presently, the ConEdison Solutions residential price is 9.28 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for a 12-month term and represents the lowest residential fixed price without a cancellation fee. By contrast, PPL’s residential 2010 Price to Compare is 10.448 cents per kWh.
More than 576,000 Pennsylvanians have already switched electricity suppliers. As rate caps expired at PPL, consumers were able to shop for a better deal and save money on their electric bills. In fact, many households were able to save over $100 by taking 3 minutes to switch.
ConEdison Solutions serves more than 220,000 residential and small commercial accounts in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts by providing value through lower prices, price protection, and environmentally friendly “green” power.
As one of the country’s largest competitive electricity suppliers, ConEdison Solutions provides competitively priced electricity and energy management solutions across the nation. To enroll with ConEdison Solutions:
