VALHALLA, NY – DECEMBER 31, 2009: ConEdison Solutions is announcing its price for residences and small businesses in the PPL service territory enrolling on or after January 1. Based on current wholesale energy costs, ConEdison Solutions will now offer electricity supply to residential and small business customers in the PPL Electric Utilities (PPL) service area at a price of 9.95 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), effective January 1.
The price will apply to customers signing up in January 2010, for bills issued beginning February 2010 through December 2010. ConEdison Solutions will routinely update its residential price on a monthly basis.
Customers who signed up for the company's 9.38 cents price -- a price announced in December -- will receive that fixed price throughout the entire term of their agreement.
“We’re pleased that our initial offering for December has been so well received” said Jorge J. Lopez, President and CEO of ConEdison Solutions. "We developed our initial offer price earlier in December, and the thousands of customers who signed on during December will receive electricity at that price for the length of their agreement."
“As always, ConEdison Solutions will continue to aggressively monitor wholesale electricity price trends to identify opportunities to provide additional savings for Pennsylvania customers. We will always attempt to provide a competitive price for the Pennsylvania market," he said.
The savings under the new price, compared with PPL’s generation rates taking effect in January, would represent approximately 5 percent in savings on electricity bills. Energy users tapping ConEdison Solutions would reduce electricity spending by approximately $42 over the course of the coming year for a household using 700 kilowatt hours per month.
Once state-mandated price caps expire in January, PPL’s residential supply rate for 2010 will be 10.448 cents per kwh. The new price from ConEdison Solutions continues to offer savings compared with the PPL Price to Compare.
ConEdison Solutions is continuing its support of Ronald McDonald House®, which provides families of sick children with a "home away from home” while their children are receiving treatment at a nearby children’s hospital. The company is donating $5 to the customer’s local Ronald McDonald House® for every PPL customer enrolling with ConEdison Solutions before January 31, 2010.
ConEdison Solutions has been active in the PPL service territory since early October, when it began offering competitive energy supply to large business and industrial customers in the area. It has been serving Pennsylvania’s Pike County Light and Power customers since 2006.
There are no sign-up or switching fees for customers who enroll with ConEdison Solutions.
Under Pennsylvania's restructured energy market, ConEdison Solutions will supply the lower-priced electricity and PPL will continue to deliver the electricity, read meters, and send customers a single bill that incorporates all electricity charges, just as before.
ConEdison Solutions presently serves more than 200,000 residential and small commercial accounts in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts by providing value through lower prices, price protection, and environmentally friendly “green” power.
