ConEdison Solutions Wins Approval To Deliver Energy Services In Connecticut
July 11, 2013
Valhalla, NY: ConEdison Solutions, one of America’s leading energy service providers, has received accreditation as a Qualified Energy Services Provider in the state of Connecticut (QESP), under the State’s new Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) Program led by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. ConEdison Solutions is one of the twelve ESCOs approved.
As a State-accredited QESP, the company is eligible to offer a range of energy efficiency services to State agencies and municipal governments.
ConEdison Solutions already enjoys a strong reputation in Connecticut as a competitor in the state’s deregulated energy commodity marketplace since 2006 and has performed energy efficiency work in the state prior to creation of the new ESPC program. With this approval, ConEdison Solutions has now been certified as an ESCO in 24 states across the U.S. It should be noted that 21 states do not require certification as an ESCO to operate within them.
The company is also approved as an energy services provider by several federal agencies.
“Energy efficiency reduces the financial burden on taxpayers, promotes environmental quality, and makes America less dependent on fossil fuels," said Jorge J. Lopez, President and CEO of ConEdison Solutions. “Connecticut has made a strong commitment to improving the energy efficiency of its public buildings, and we’re ready to play a critical role in helping the Nutmeg State set new standards in this important area."
ConEdison Solutions will coordinate its efforts with the state's major utilities. In addition to lowering energy costs for taxpayers and consumers, Connecticut’s energy efficiency initiatives also reduce the need to build or expand power generation facilities.
As an illustration of ConEdison Solutions’ experience in helping boost the energy efficiency of Connecticut public buildings, the company designed and implemented a successful program for the Windham Public Schools in Willimantic and Windham. The ESCO’s public-sector work was also highlighted in the February-March issue of the Connecticut Association of School Business Officials’ (CASBO) newsletter.
