Bill Gates Predicts Big Energy Breakthrough In Next 15 Years

In Bill and Melinda Gates’ most recent annual letter, readers learn that if Bill had a superpower, he’d want more time and energy.

Time and energy, he explains, possess two entirely different meanings for those who live comfortably and for those who do not have access to electricity.  In the letter, he informs his audience of high school students (who he notes will be the future leaders of the world and thereby must learn these lessons now) that 1.3 billion people, or 18 percent of the world’s population, do not have access to electricity. As such, Bill Gates details his goal of reducing global carbon emissions which is a huge challenge.  In 2015, the world emitted 36 billion tons of carbon dioxide to produce energy.

In order to resolve this global issue, Gates came up with an energy equation, PxSxExC=CO2 , which if solved effectively—by using more efficient energy resources—can result in an energy breakthrough in the next 15 years.  In America, conserving energy and using renewable resources can help in reaching this goal.  Read the letter.
