Solar investments sky high in 2014The solar industry saw 175 percent growth in investments, according to a Mercom Capital Group’s report.

Investments, totaling $26.5 billion last year, came from venture capital, debt, and public market financing investments.  That far exceeds the $9.6 billion funded in 2013.  In 2014, large-scale solar project acquisitions of $3.2 billion were also way ahead of 2013’s investment of $1.7 billion.
Mercom Capital said a significant reason for the growth was perception: the solar industry is “no longer perceived as a speculative, high-risk investment” but instead can attract investors with “low-risk dividend yields.”
