Top U.S. companies creating renewable initiative

More than a dozen national companies including Facebook, GM, HP, Sprint and Procter and Gamble have joined together in an initiative to make it easier to buy renewable energy.

The coalition has identified six factors integral to the purchasing process.  They include a variety of options, longer-term contracts and new projects that reduce emissions.

The group says that, collectively, they are looking to purchase 8.4 MWh per year of renewables but the market often puts too many hurdles in the way.
