Companies in New Jersey, Oregon and Virginia are the winners of Department of Energy grants to develop offshore wind farms. The three finalists, each of which received $4 million in federal matching funds in 2012 for preliminary project analysis, were chosen from a group of seven projects.
They are Fishermen’s Energy in New Jersey, Principle Power in Oregon and Dominion Virginia Power in Virginia.
Each company has a year to deliver a final design and achieve permitting and an offtake agreement, with energy production expected to begin by 2017. Full story
