The Obama Administration wants to double up on renewables.
The President announced Solar Market Pathways, a $15 million funding opportunity through the Department of Energy for state, local and tribal governments and authorized nonprofits to expand renewables production. Over the next five to ten years, Pathways will provide awards ranging from $100,000 to $4 million to increase solar deployment.
According to the White House, “To advance our nation’s energy and climate goals, the United States must be a leader in innovating and deploying clean energy”.
The goal is to double renewable energy generation by 2020, the year targeted by Washington for 20 percent of federal buildings to be powered by renewable sources.
