Taming Hurricanes with Turbines

New research is showing that offshore wind farms could play a role in reducing the impact of hurricanes on coastal communities. Computer models were created to examine what would have happened if a large array of wind turbines had been present during real-life hurricanes, Katrina, Isaac and Sandy. Results show that wind speeds and storm surges would have been significantly reduced, preventing billions of dollars worth of damage. Check out how the science works.
