The Grocery Stewardship Certification, developed by Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences, is a new sustainability certification program for grocery stores. To date, there is nothing like it in the nation. Stores get points, and ultimately certification, for reducing energy consumption, water use, food waste and other factors. The initiative not only gives certified stores bragging rights but it also helps stores define concrete steps for reducing their carbon footprint. See what stores have already been certified.
