LEED Green Building Framework Inspires New Purchasing Organization

The U. S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED framework allowed architects and contractors to expand their ability to build more energy-efficient buildings without substantially expanding their resources or knowledge base.  LEED made the job of architects and engineers specifying sustainable buildings a whole lot easier.

Currently, purchasing managers must wade through a mire of information and misinformation if they want to create a truly sustainable purchasing program.

Due to launch in July, the Sustainable Purchasing Council  (SPC) will take a similar approach to the LEED program by creating a community resource of actionable guidance that will enable purchasing managers to develop better and greener purchasing practices.
