White Plains, NY, March 10, 2003 - ConEdison Solutions, one of the leading energy service providers in the United States, recently presented Richard (Rick) Paprocki of the US Postal Service (USPS) with the ConEdison Solutions "Energy Excellence Award," which recognizes those in the energy field who exemplify a commitment to energy efficiency.

 

Mr. Paprocki serves as New York metropolitan area manager of environmental compliance for the Postal Service.  He is responsible for energy conservation and environmental issues for postal centers throughout the southern tier of New York State, including New York City, Westchester County, Orange County, Rockland County and Long Island, as well as New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Recently, Mr. Paprocki supervised a major lighting retrofit project at the Postal Service's International Mail Facility at JFK International Airport.  The 700,000-square-foot facility received lighting upgrades that improved energy efficiency and significantly boosted worker productivity.

 

A Postal Service employee for more than 33 years, Mr. Paprocki has long been an innovator in energy efficiency and conservation.  In 1997, he won the Environmental Compliance award presented by the Office of Federal Environmental Executives for his "contributions to greening the government."  The award, sponsored by the Vice President's office, recognized his efforts in waste prevention, recycling, and energy pollution reduction.  

 

Mr. Paprocki won the National Environmental Management Innovation Award in 1998 for creating an emergency program through which the Postal Service donated surplus mailbags for use as sandbags to assist with flooding recovery efforts in the Midwest. 

 

Mr. Paprocki currently resides in Mahopac, New York and is based at the Postal Service's New York Metropolitan area office in Flushing, Queens.
