METROPOLITAN MONTESSORI BECOMES FIRST NYC SCHOOL TO GO "GREEN"

--100% of school's energy will come from renewable sources supplied by ConEdison Solutions and Community Energy--

New York, NY - November 8, 2006 - ConEdison Solutions and Community Energy, Inc. today announced that the Metropolitan Montessori School (MMS) has become the first private, primary/elementary school in New York City to purchase renewable Green Power for 100 percent of its electricity supply.

The purchase of 136,000 kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable “Green Power,” which consists of NewWind Energy®, will provide power for the school’s 16,000-square-foot campus located at 325 West 85th Street in Manhattan.  The school’s Green Power purchase will enable Montessori to reduce the environmental impact of its energy consumption and better align its electricity usage with its educational mission.

"Green Power" is clean, renewable energy generated by regional wind farms such as the 30-megawatt wind farm in Fenner, NY.

"By purchasing renewable green power for 100 percent of its electric energy requirements, the Metropolitan Montessori School is setting an excellent example for other educational institutions throughout the city and state,” said Jorge Lopez, president and CEO of ConEdison Solutions.  “Montessori’s green initiative is sure to inspire other schools to also become leaders in responsible energy use and demonstrate their commitment to environmentally friendly renewable energy sources.”

ConEdison Solutions, a leading energy services company based in White Plains, New York, partners with Community Energy Inc., a leading marketer and developer of emission-free, wind-generated electricity based in Wayne, Pa, to bring "Green Power" to the New York City area.  Wind has become the world's fastest-growing renewable energy source.

"The Montessori School is known for their leadership in education, and their purchase of Green Power puts that education to work in building a clean secure energy future," said Brent Alderfer, Executive Vice President of Community Energy, Inc.

Mary Gaines, Head-of-School at Metropolitan Montessori School said, "This ConEdison Solutions initiative provides Metropolitan Montessori School with the perfect opportunity to teach our young students that we must all be effective problem solvers as well as ethical choice makers in tackling our environmental problems and conserving resources."

Compared to their current purchase of energy in New York, Montessori’s Green Power purchase accounts for an annual carbon offset of over 175,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions. This annual environmental benefit is equivalent to over 12,000 new trees or not driving over 150,000 miles.

As part of the Green Power contract with ConEdison Solutions and Community Energy, MMS will develop a permanent educational kiosk in the school to teach students about energy efficiency and conservation.
