CAPE LIGHT COMPACT AND CON EDISON SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCE ELECTRICITY PRICES
Cape COD, MASS - December 12, 2007 - In an era of sustained increases in the costs of commodities of all kinds, the Cape Light Compact and its electricity supplier, ConEdison Solutions, have announced electricity prices for Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard consumers that continue to insulate the budgets of local households and businesses from price inflation.
Since January 2006, the Cape Light Compact has reduced and stabilized electricity prices for both residential and commercial customers. Factoring in new prices extending through the first half of 2008, electricity users across the region will pay prices that are approximately 14 percent lower than those in effect in January 2006. For electricity usage from January 2008 to July 2008 meter read dates, the Compact is pleased to announce its residential rate will be 11.100 cents/kWh and the small commercial rate will be 11.450 cents/kWh. The price for residential and small commercial customers is guaranteed to remain in effect for the six-month period.
“Gasoline prices at the pump continue to rise, heating oil prices continue to rise, our taxes and insurance costs continue to rise,” said Bob Mahoney, Chairman of the Cape Light Compact. “But by leveraging the power of a competitive energy marketplace, the Cape Light Compact has now achieved a two-and-a-half year record of delivering lower electricity costs to the families and businesses in the Cape and Vineyard.”
"Households across America are bearing the burden of constantly rising electricity costs, but customers on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard are bucking this national trend thanks to the Cape Light Compact,” said Jorge Lopez, President and CEO of ConEdison Solutions. "The Cape Light Compact benefits the community by combining its commitment to affordable electricity with ConEdison Solutions’ expertise in the energy marketplace. Moreover, the Cape Light Compact has forged a strong bond with local residents to support renewable energy, energy conservation and community education.”
