CONEDISON SOLUTIONS RECEIVES 'QUALITY SUPPLIER' AWARD FROM UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE

--Energy Services Compnay Hailed as "Best of the Best" --

White Plains, NY, December 15, 2004 - "At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., the United States Postal Service honored ConEdison Solutions (CES), a leading energy services company, for delivering energy services that have yielded tens of millions of dollars' worth of savings at hundreds of USPS locations in the greater New York City area.

The Postal Service presented a Quality Supplier Award to ConEdison Solutions at a reception held at USPS headquarters.  The White Plains company was the only energy services provider among a total of eight award recipients.  Postal officials hailed awardees as "the best of the best in delivering superior products and services to the American public."

Through its association with ConEdison Solutions, the Postal Service has saved an estimated $15.7 million in cumulative energy costs through September 2004, with increasingly larger savings anticipated in future years.

ConEdison Solutions began collaborating with the USPS New York Metropolitan Area District in 1998 to improve energy efficiency at its facilities.  As a result, a wide range of cost-saving energy upgrades are now in place at hundreds of facilities representing millions of square feet of space.

"As one of our charter customers, the USPS has long recognized that installing cutting-edge energy technology delivers significant returns on investment, while promoting energy independence, protecting the environment, and creating a customer-friendly atmosphere," said JoAnn F. Ryan, president and CEO of ConEdison Solutions.  "This award elevates ConEdison Solutions' prestige in the energy marketplace, and we look forward to expanding our partnership with the Postal Service."

At the two-million-square-foot Morgan Processing and Distribution Center in Manhattan, ConEdison Solutions replaced more than 4,000 lighting fixtures with new metal halide and fluorescent fixtures and installed a computerized lighting management system capable of dimming lights through the use of zone controls tied into a central computer.  In addition to energy and maintenance savings, the new "white" lights system supported increased productivity through a brighter work environment for employees.

"You have worked with us to introduce new ideas, new practices, and new procedures that ultimately result in higher quality products and services," Postmaster General John E. Potter said at the ceremony.  "It is the hard work and innovative spirit all of you bring to the table that allows us to add value to our services, to find new ways to improve efficiency, and to reduce our costs and yours."

ConEdison Solutions also mounted a lighting retrofit project at the USPS' 700,000-square-foot International Mail Facility at JFK International Airport.  The upgrades improved energy efficiency and boosted worker productivity.

"We're particularly gratified to receive this award from such an important customer," said Ryan.  "The Postal Service selected us from thousands of vendors and suppliers who work with them nationwide every year."

John Mitchell, vice president of National Accounts at ConEdison Solutions, who resides in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, accepted the Quality Supplier Award on the company's behalf.

The USPS also presented an award to Maritz Research, Boise Cascade Office Products, MSC Industrial Supply Company, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, Ricoh Corporation, Siemens Dematic Postal Automation L.P. and W.W. Grainger, Inc.
