CON EDISON SOLUTIONS AND COMMUNITY ENERGY JOIN IN 'EARTH DAY NEW YORK' CELEBRATIONS

--'Green Power' Leaders Build New York Market for Wind Energy--

White Plains, NY, April 22, 2004 ConEdison Solutions, a leading energy services company and Community Energy, Inc., a leading marketer of wind-generated electricity, joined local environmental leaders in promoting clean energy alternatives as part of this year's "Earth Day New York" programming held April 19 through April 25 in New York City.

ConEdison Solutions and Community Energy together provide renewable "Green Power" to residential, commercial, industrial and government customers in New York City, as well as Westchester, Rockland, and Orange counties.

To demonstrate support for Earth Day New York, ConEdison Solutions and Community Energy, Inc. provided "Green Power" for Earth Day New York's week-long celebration in Grand Central Station's historic Vanderbilt Hall.

Community Energy Inc. serves as ConEdison Solutions' partner in the "Green Power" offering by supplying NewWind Energy® from wind turbines located at the 30-megawatt "wind farm" in upstate Fenner, New York.

"Through the 'Green Power' offering, ConEdison Solutions and Community Energy work hard to remind New Yorkers that we need to protect our environment on Earth Day and also every day of the year," said Phil Herman, vice president of marketing for ConEdison Solutions.  "We strive to make every day Earth Day by supplying clean, renewable energy generated right here in New York State."

Many of New York's most prominent property owners use "Green Power" in their buildings, including The Durst Organization, Met Life, Pep Boys, Pace University, MacKensie Cutler, Inc., 1400 on 5th Ave., and numerous others.

Mr. Herman, who joined environmental leaders at a reception held April 19 in Manhattan, also commended winners of this year's Earth Day New York awards for their achievements in support of environmental objectives.  Awardees included Tim Carey of the Battery Park City Authority, Cordell Cleare of the New York City Coalition to End Lead Poisoning, State Senator Carl Marcellino, and State Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli.

"The small extra cost of using pollution-free electricity is outweighed by the benefits to the environment, expanded energy security and the improved quality of life," Mr. Herman said.

For residential customers, he noted, "Green Power" costs approximately one half cent more per kilowatt-hour than the ConEdison Solutions standard offer.  For a typical residential customer using 350 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month, the additional cost roughly equals $1.75 more per month than standard electricity rates.

ConEdison Solutions officials said that "Green Power" users do not need to re-wire or purchase special equipment.  Business or residential customers can sign up by calling 1-888-320-8991, or on-line at www.conedisonsolutions.com
