Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative works closely with Barnstable County municipal stakeholders to reduce their monthly utility bills. In 2010, the Coop contacted ConEdison Solutions to install 104 kW of solar capacity at Harwich Elementary School. The 385-panel installation was financed using a 15-year power purchase agreement. Over that time, Harwich Elementary is expected to save nearly $200,000 in electricity spending. The school is also helping to reduce CO2 emissions by over 180,000 pounds a year.
