A well-respected manufacturer continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability with one of the largest solar carport installations on the east coast.  A 5,280 panel parking lot facility was completed at the company’s Maryland manufacturing facility.  The panels were mounted to carport-like frames situated over parking spaces.  Under a 20-year power purchase agreement, the solar canopy will produce 1.3 megawatts (MW) of electricity to be delivered directly to the facility to offset the plant’s electrical demand.  And the structure provides the additional benefit of protecting employees’ cars from the elements.  Energy produced by the zero-emission solar panels is equivalent to eliminating the annual greenhouse emissions of 236 passenger vehicles.
