In an effort to reduce its CO2 emissions, Honda decided to integrate wind power into the energy supply for its Russells Point production plant.  Before signing a power purchase agreement with ConEdison Solutions, Honda expected the two wind turbines to generate 10,000 MWh annually of clean electricity – enough to cover 10% of the plant’s power needs.  Once installed on the property outside the factory, however, the actual production exceeded these estimates – sometimes by more than 15% of the forecasted output.  The wind turbines offset CO2 emissions at the plant by at least 16 million pounds annually.
