About the ConEdison Solutions Retail Energy Acquisition FAQs

Updated December 2016

1. Is Constellation’s acquisition of the assets associated with the retail electricity and natural gas business of ConEdison Solutions complete?

Yes. Constellation’s acquisition of the assets associated with the retail electricity and natural gas business of ConEdison Solutions was completed effective September 1, 2016. ConEdison Solutions’ retail electricity and natural gas customers have become Constellation customers.

[Note – Gas contracts were assigned. Power contracts remain in the name of ConEdison Solutions with CNE acting as back office agent until transformation milestones and/or assignment.]

2. Are there any updates on ConEdison Solutions’ brand transition to Constellation?

Yes. Initiatives to transition from the ConEdison Solutions brand to the Constellation brand continue. Effective January 2, 2017 specific brand changes will begin to take place over the course of the year. Changes will include:

  • ConEdison Solutions phones will be answered as Constellation in late February or early March.
  • ConEdison Solutions email addresses and signatures will officially change to Constellation in late February or early March.
  • Name and logo on invoices will change by market over time in 2017
[Please refer to timeline below in question 3.]

No changes are being made to a customer’s contract term, price, or terms and conditions of service as a result of this change.

3. What is the timeline for integrating the two organizations?

Since Constellation completed the acquisition of the assets associated with the retail electricity and natural gas business of ConEdison Solutions, we have assessed strengths and best practices of both Constellation and the retail electricity and natural gas business of ConEdison Solutions to inform potential process improvements and opportunities to streamline operations within the retail organization.

This process has taken a few months already and will continue to take several more. We transitioned gas customers in the first 30 days after close, and will transition power customers throughout 2017.

  • Former ConEdison Solutions customers will start to see a change to the name/logo on their invoice. This will align with Constellation system changes, outlined in the schedule below, according to location. Utility-billed customers will see the Constellation name/logo on those invoices on a similar timeline.
    • Due to varying meter read schedules and utility timelines for processing the change, it may take one to two billing cycles after these dates before the customer notices the change.
  • A separate notice of assignment letter will be sent in advance of the customers’ exact contract conversion date.
